Market Union | Suxi–Ningbo Zhoushan Port Sea-Rail Train Launched

On the morning of August 28, the “Suxi–Ningbo Zhoushan Port MU Group Sea-Rail Express Train,” loaded with 100 standard containers of daily commodities, Christmas products, furniture, stationery, and toys, departed with a whistle from Yiwu (Suxi) International Hub Port, bound for Ningbo Zhoushan Port.

Upon arrival, the goods will be shipped to more than ten countries including Germany, Spain, the United States, the Dominican Republic, and South Africa. This marks the successful launch of the first customized sea-rail intermodal train under the innovative tripartite collaboration of “port–rail–enterprise,” creating a new channel to efficiently connect local manufacturing with global trade.

In recent years, with Yiwu’s foreign trade maintaining rapid growth, enterprises have placed higher demands on logistics efficiency and cost control. In July, MU Group’s Yiwu GLP Warehouse achieved a record monthly throughput of over 100,000 m³, highlighting the urgent need for large-scale, consolidated container transport. The launch of a customized enterprise sea-rail express train will help reduce overall logistics costs, ease the scheduling and management pressures of multimodal transport, and further enhance supply chain resilience and export competitiveness.

Yiwu (Suxi) International Hub Port has advanced port functions to the inland railway terminal, enabling enterprises to complete key customs procedures such as pre-clearance and pre-loading in a one-stop manner. This not only provides solid support for efficiently aligning with international shipping schedules and ensuring precise synchronization with global logistics nodes, but also helps enterprises shorten logistics cycles and reduce capital occupation costs—becoming a truly “hardcore” measure to lower costs and enhance efficiency in foreign trade exports.

Since the official launch of Yiwu (Suxi) International Hub Port at the end of June this year, the sea-rail team of Ningbo Zhoushan Port has been deepening cooperation with customs, railway authorities, and key enterprises, optimizing on-site processes, and upgrading digital services. It is committed to providing customers with a more professional, efficient, and convenient logistics channel, supporting “Zhejiang Premium Goods,” “Made in Jinhua,” and “Yiwu Quality Goods” to reach the world, and injecting new momentum into higher-level opening-up and high-quality regional development.

Since 1999, the Group has grown from foreign procurement agency services into one of China’s leading consumer goods trading companies, with expected exports of 2.6 billion USD in 2025. In Yiwu Financial and Business District, two MU Towers totaling 85,500 m² will be put into use this September, bringing our total office and warehouse space in Yiwu to over 170,000 m². The customized express train is not only a milestone in MU Group’s deepening localization in Yiwu but is also expected to further drive the development of the “Sixth Port Area” of Ningbo Zhoushan Port.

MU Group President Tom Tang, together with executives Henry Xu, William Wang, and Ken Huang, as well as representatives from the Logistics Department, Warehouse Department, and partner logistics suppliers, attended the event.
